Learn silkscreen-printing and its multitude of
applications. Students will focus on the
screen and registration processes using a
variety of printing techniques such as screen
and mesh preparation, stencil and direct drawing
methods, image selection and preparation,
cutting and adhering film, the photo emulsion
process, multi-color printing, and the use of
proper inks and solvents. Learn the
process of printing a series of decals,
T-shirts, cards, posters and artist proof
production. Use your originality to become
a successful printer and understand serigraphy.

RELIEF PRINTMAKING I

Learn basic relief printmaking skills as you
carve your creative images into linoleum and
wood blocks. Then learn how to ink and press
your blocks in editions of 5 to 10. Designed to
be an entry-level class, relief printmaking is a
great opportunity to begin or continue one’s
artistic development.

RELIEF PRINTMAKING II

This is a continuation of the skills learned in
Relief Printmaking I with additional
applications. Working in reduction woodcuts,
students will produce multi-colored prints in
editions of 5-10. Projects will include a
three-color print and a five-color print. In the
process of completing the course students will
be advised on principles of design including
color, composition and more. On the last day,
students will be given a chance to speak to the
class about their work and the challenge of
adding the design element of color.

MONOPRINT (C)

A monoprint is one of a kind rather than an
edition of prints. Create beautiful colorful
prints using painterly techniques and tools on
plexiglass or on plates you construct. Build a
collagraph plate and make prints of many
different styles with it. Learn to use the
printing press and about papers, inks and tools.
Paper and some tools will be available in class.
Inks, plexiglass & plate materials are provided.
No previous experience needed.

INTAGLIO PRINTMAKING I

Learn to make and print your own Copper Plate
Etchings. Different methods will be covered,
line etching, aquatint, dry point, and multiple
color printing. Beginning and experienced
printmakers will produce a collection of
beautiful etchings including a small edition.
Most materials are provided. Additional paper
will be available for purchase in class. Low
toxicity procedures used for good health. Bring
an apron and your ideas. Explore this wonderful
medium used by Rembrandt and Degas.

INTAGLIO PRINTMAKING II

Continued study into techniques of etching and
intaglio processes. Students will learn more
about aquatint and tools to create texture and
depth to the etched image. Learn to register
more than one plate in order to print color
etchings. Different textures and line qualities
will be used to enhance the finished image for
an edition and framing.

STONE LITHOGRAPHY I

Draw on a stone, then learn the process of
making many prints from one drawing. A wonderful
medium for those who like to draw, as well as
those who like to paint. Painterly effects can
also be achieved so that a diverse image is
created. You will produce an edition of the
completed image. For the beginning and
experienced printmaker. Lithography allows those
who love to draw to make beautiful renderings on
a level you never thought possible. Stones and
the lithograph press are waiting for you.

STONE LITHOGRAPHY II

Continue your exploration of challenging
Lithography techniques. Students will explore
variations of washes to produce richly textured
and painterly images. With the addition of
monotype in combination with the black and white
image, you will gain a better sense of this
unique printing process. More than one color can
be introduced using aluminum plates for
printing.
