Use of tools and other stone possibilities will be discussed. This is a great opportunity for those with little or no stone carving experience. | STONE SCULPTURE (C) Oldrich Rokyta An introductory course in stone carving that is an opportunity to take an in-depth look at what sculpting entails. We will discuss different stone types (such as alabaster, sandstone, limestone, marble, and granite) and the sculpting tools and techniques needed to work with these materials. Particularly, the indirect and direct approach to stone carving, enlarging, tempering tools, and polishing.

| BEGINNING FIGURE SCULPTURE FROM LIFE (C) Mary Carin Starting with the skull, a life portrait of a head will be sculpted in this 7-week session. The hands and feet will also be included in this difficult area of Life Sculpture. Students will learn to make two kinds of simple armatures and will work from a live model. Sign up early as this class fills quickly.

| FIGURE SCULPTURE FROM LIFE (C) Mary Carin Working from a model is our focus. The human torso is the subject of a 7 week session for intermediate students. More advanced students will work with the whole figure from head to toe. Two or more part mold-making is emphasized to "save" your sculpture.

| MOLD MAKING FOR SCULPTORS Oldrich Rokyta In this course you will learn three basic mold making techniques for sculptors. They are plaster waste mold, plaster piece mold, and latex mold. These three different techniques are the most used, and also the most economical way to save and reproduce your art project. Plaster piece mold and latex mold can also be used in commercial production. Materials, tools and your project will be discussed in the first session.

| MIXED MEDIA & SCULPTURE Oldrich Rokyta This course is offered to people interested in creating art combining different kinds of materials and techniques. Experience in working with tools is a plus but not necessary. Because ore labor is involved in finishing projects, 14 week session are recommended. | MODELING & DRAWING SEATED FIGURE Oldrich Rokyta Students will model or draw seated nude or draped figure working from model in water-based clay and draw in their preferred medium (charcoal, pencil, crayon, etc.). Students will focus on observational skills, composition, proportion, anatomy, and understanding the dynamics of the human body. From beginner to advanced, it is exciting to try both media and find out which you want to finish your class.
